LAWTON, Okla._'Tis the season to spread holiday cheer and Lawton firefighters were out in full force doing their part.
Friday, a team of firefighters stood outside of the Walmart on Northwest 67th Street and Quanah Parker Trailway, lending a hand to the Salvation Army. They greeted customers while ringing bells for the kettle drive to help the organization reach its holiday goals. This is the sixth straight year that Jared Williams, LFD training officer, has been involved, and he likes to look at it as just another way he can give back to the community he loves.
"This is just a way that we can give back to the citizens. The Salvation Army is a great organization in the community. They help the homeless, they are there for us in disasters and this is a way that we can give back to the Salvation Army and to the citizens of Lawton,” said Williams.
It is partnerships like this one that allows the Salvation Army to continue to bring comfort to the less fortunate, especially during the holiday season.
